I have been slipping lately in my frugal ways and I am very ashamed of myself. I have been cutting corners when cooking, not measuring portions. *Hangs head in shame*
I noticed last night when my beloved made rice he made enough to feed an Indian restaurant and even worse, we forgot to put it in the fridge.
Is so easy to slip when you are busy or tired. I make some quite expensive, fancy coffee in the morning and I have been leaving about half a cup in the pot. There is no need for this waste, I am the only on having the coffee so I should be precise in my measurements. The same goes for when I make pasta or rice.
I am vowing to watch my measures and to help me out until I can eyeball it correctly, I will be consulting the Love Food Hate Waste site for portion recommendations. They also have a handy app that you can put in what you have hanging around your fridge and it will suggest recipes.
It is so easy to let yourself get lazy, just recently I have found myself saying “well it is only £1” when chucking some rotting food into the bin. I have also, I am so embarrassed by this, thrown away chicken carasses with meat still on them without making stock. I am ashamed that an animal has died to feed us and we have not used the whole thing.
It is time for me to get back on track. I promise you, my lovely readers that I will now be watching portion size and always using my leftover roast chicken. I will also be digging the last bit of toothpaste and shampoo out of the tubes.
